Herbert P, Trier, M.D., Director

Herbert P, Trier, M.D. is a psychiatrist who has been in private practice in Fort Wayne since 1961. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his psychiatric residency at the Western Psychiatric Institute of the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Trier is the Director of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Fort Wayne Center for Medical Education, a position he has held since 1973 and a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Fort Wayne. He also served for more than 10 years as the Clinical Director of the Chemical Dependency Program at the Parkview/Lindenview Regional Campus.

Jean M. Merkler, MS, LMHC, NCC, CCMHC, LMFT

Jean M. Merlker is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is also nationally certified in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Mrs. Merkler graduated summa cum laude from the University of St. Francis and completed her Master's degree at this university in 1972. She has been treating a wide range of psychological disorders through individual, marital, and family therapy for more than 30 years.

Edith Kenna, MSW, LCSW

Edith Kenna is licensed by the State of Indiana as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her BS Degree and master of Social Work degrees from Indiana University. She is certified through the Academy of Certified Social Workers. Edith has extensive experience treating all types of psychological and emotional problems. She enjoys working on an individual basis, as well as couples, families, and adolescents. Edith has worked in our local community mental health center for over 25 years prior to joining our practice.

Mary A. La Rocque, MSW, LCSW

Mary A. La Rocque, MSW, LCSW, is licensed by the State of Indiana as a Licensed Clinical social Worker. She is a member of the Academy of Certified Social workers. She has a B.A. in psychology from Antioch College in Ohio and obtained her MSW from the University of Michigan in 1972. She worked in a mental health center for the Chicago Board of Health. Mary worked for Park Center for 13 years prior to joining APS. She likes working with children and their families, as well as, couples and individuals. She has extensive experience treating all types of psychological and emotional problems. Mary received a certificate in Pastoral Counseling from St. Francis University in May of 2008.

Tina Huffman, MS, LMHC, LCAC

Tina Huffman, MS, LMHC, LCAC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. Tina received her BA from Taylor University. She received her drug and alcohol licensure in 2010. She attended the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy masters Program at Indiana/Purdue University at Fort Wayne. Tina is certified as a Grief Counselor. She has worked with Park Center, the Northeast Juvenile Center, Lutheran Social Services and the St. Joseph Hospital Behavioral Health Center. She enjoys working with teens, women's issues, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders.

Stephen King, MS, LMFT

Stephen King, MS, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He received his B.S. degree from Indiana University and his Masters Degree from St. Francis University. Stephen has extensive history in treating substance abuse, behavioral disorders, emotional disorders including anxiety, depression, anger and grief. Other areas of interest are dsyfunctional families, marriage education, doing recovery work with psychological, emotional, sexual and spiritual abuse. Prior to joining our practice he worked for Catholic Social Services, Your Friends and Neighbors, the Salvation Army, Allen County Alcohol Countermeasures Probation and his own private practice in Auburn, IN.
